The Architects Act 1997 and EU legislation are currently linked so, as we move towards EU Exit, we want to make sure you know what steps you may need to take, and how to take them.

As your regulator, and the UK’s competent authority for the profession, it is our duty to ensure we have functional regulatory systems in place.  We are working on those systems with the information available to us and will provide guidance on those systems once they are established.

In the meantime, we’d like to remind those of you considering registering in another EU Member State under the current regulatory systems of our recommend course of action.

  • Contact the Competent Authority in the relevant the EU Member State for confirmation of their registration requirements for your particular circumstances – List of Competent Authorities
  • Apply for a proof of qualification or registration certificate to aid your application – More on certificates
  • Contact us as soon as possible so we can provide tailored advice on the steps you will need to take and process any certificates you might need – Contact Us

EEA and Swiss qualified architects who are hoping to register in the UK but have not yet done so should also consider this Government guidance.

Please pass this information on to anyone you think may be looking to register as an architect in the UK or EU in the near future.
