Our future relationship with Europe remains undecided. There are now a few keys dates ahead and a range of possible outcomes.

23 May 2019 – European Parliament elections
These take place every five years. There are 751 Members of the European Parliament, 73 of which represent the UK.

Week commencing 3 June 2019 – MPs vote on the Withdrawal Agreement Bill
The Withdrawal Agreement Bill sets out how the UK leaves the European Union.

31 October 2019 – Exit Day
This is currently the date by which the UK is due to withdraw from the EU.

If the Withdrawal Agreement passes through Parliament we may leave the EU by 31 October. A no-deal scenario is still possible if nothing else is agreed before 31 October. The European Court of Justice has also ruled the UK could revoke Article 50 in order to cancel Brexit.

Along the way it’s possible we may have another referendum, a vote of no confidence or a general election. Only time will tell.

In the meantime we will continue to share with you information on how the regulation of architects may change whenever we learn more. You can find questions and answers, useful links, EU related Register statistics and more, on our dedicated Brexit webpages: arb.org.uk/brexit
