The Architects Act 1997 and EU legislation are currently linked and so, as we move towards EU Exit, we want to make sure you know what steps you may need to take, and how to take them.

As your regulator and the UK’s competent authority for the profession, it is our duty to ensure we have functional regulatory systems in place.  We are working on those systems with the information available to us and will provide guidance on those systems once they are established.

In the meantime, we’d like to remind those of you considering registering in another EU Member State under the current regulatory systems of our recommend course of action:

If you are applying for a proof of qualification or registration certificate, please ensure you provide us with the necessary information to avoid your request being delayed.  It usually takes around seven working days to process a request for proof of qualification/registration, and can take longer during periods of high demand. Please ensure you submit your request at the earliest opportunity and leave sufficient time for your request to be processed.

EEA and Swiss qualified architects who are hoping to register in the UK, but have not yet done so, should also consider this Government guidance.

Please pass this information on to anyone you think may be looking to register as an architect in the UK or EU in the near future.
