The fee to remain on the register in 2021 is £119. Your statutory notice to pay will be dispatched shortly, and payment must be made by midnight on 31 December 2020.

The easiest and most convenient way for you to pay is to set up a direct debit. Currently, over 25% of architects pay this way. It means your fee in future years will be taken automatically, giving you peace of mind that your registration is guaranteed year on year.  It is also the most efficient way for us to process the payment, ultimately reducing the time and resource we spend, and therefore maximising how we use your fee to perform our regulatory duties.

To set up a direct debit for 2021, we need your bank details before 13 November. Please provide them by completing this form and sending it to us as per the instructions. If you have an existing direct debit, make sure you tell us if your account details have changed since last year.

You can also pay your 2021 fee via credit/debit card (with no additional cost) via our secure payment site, which is open from midday on Friday 9 October.  We are unable to take payment by cash or cheque this year, due to Government advice on social distancing and contactless payments, and our team working remotely. If you are unable to pay via direct debit or our payment site, you should contact us immediately.

If you believe your employer is paying on your behalf, you should pass the statutory notice to them immediately and ensure payment is made in advance of the deadline.  If your employer is unable to pay in time, you should make your own arrangements before the deadline and claim the fee from them later.

The deadline for payment this year coincides with the end of the EU transition period, and is expected to be very busy with remaining EU applications and certificates.  In order to maintain your continued registration, we advise paying as early as you can, or signing up to the automatic direct debit.  For more information about the fee, including how it’s used and other ways to pay, visit our FAQ pages. If you are concerned about your ability to pay the fee, The Architects Benevolent Society is a charity that can provide a range of support, from confidential advice to financial assistance.
