Consultation on the Procedures for the Prescription of Qualifications
Under the Architects Act 1997, our Board sets the standards required of those who wish to register as architects. A person is eligible to register if they hold qualifications that are prescribed, or otherwise deemed equivalent, by the Board.

The Procedures for the Prescription of Qualifications describe the process institutions must follow when seeking prescription of an architecture qualification. Following an internal governance review, our Board is proposing changes to the current Procedures. Before any changes are implemented, we are seeking feedback from any interested parties.

The proposed changes include revisions to the roles and responsibilities of both the Executive and the Prescription Committee, along with a streamlining of the application scrutiny process.

The consultation is due to launch shortly, please check our Consultations webpage for updates. The Board will consider any responses received from this consultation at the earliest opportunity following the closure of the consultation period, and before any amendments are made to the Procedures.

If you have any queries or would like to discuss any aspect of the consultation, please contact Emma Matthews our Head of Qualifications and Governance (emmam@arb.org.uk or 020 7580 5861).
