During this very challenging period for the whole country, the Board has put in place emergency procedures to maintain its statutory functions as far as possible.

During the past couple of months, the Board has met more frequently than usual to approve risk-based arrangements for prescription in circumstances where Schools of Architecture are working remotely; to approve arrangements to bring the whole of the Board’s work onto a remote basis and to oversee the provision of advice for architects practising during the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic. You may wish to access our advice resources pages through this link.

The Board has also been taking a particular interest in the challenges architects are facing in renewing their Professional Indemnity Insurance policies. In order to understand more about this, the Board has engaged with industry bodies and more recently commissioned some research – my thanks to all those who contributed their views and experiences to our recent survey. The research company is compiling the results which the Board will be using to inform its policy in this area and also provide advice to other interested parties.

On behalf of the Board, please stay safe during these challenging times.

Yours sincerely,

Alison J White
