As your regulator, we have unique insight into the composition of the profession and we recognise the importance of us being as transparent as possible with information we hold.

In 2018, we published our three year Equality & Diversity Performance Plan and are working towards objectives that include ensuring we facilitate fair regulation, accessible communication and fair access to the Architects Register.

Last month, we updated our Equality & Diversity webpages to include our latest Equality & Diversity Statement and Equality Scheme, along with a new webpage featuring some of the data collected through our Equality & Diversity Survey (the statistics do not include personally identifiable data). Providing equality and diversity data is voluntary and we currently hold data for approximately 62% of the Register.

We have recently our revised Equality & Diversity Survey and hope to launch it in the New Year. The revised survey is designed to be more inclusive by using broader gender and sexuality categories and expanding the survey to include socio-economic questions. We hope the changes will both enable architects to more effectively self-identify, and help us to better understand trends within the profession and shape our regulatory approach accordingly.

We encourage all UK architects to complete the survey. There are six short questions which should take no more than two minutes to complete.
