Brexit Advice: Registering in another EU member state before 31 October 2019
Currently, the Architects Act 1997 and EU legislation are linked. As your regulator and the UK’s competent authority for the profession it is our duty to ensure we have functional regulatory systems in place.

In addition, one of our two overarching objectives is to support you through regulation. As part of this, we believe it’s important we alert you to key deadlines and actions you may wish to take before we reach them.

At this point in time, we have a few recommendations if you are considering registering in another EU Member State under the existing regulatory systems:

  • Contact the Competent Authority for the EU Member State you wish to register in for confirmation of their registration requirements for your particular circumstances – contact details are here.
  • Find out how to apply for a proof of qualification or registration certificate via our website here.
  • Contact us as soon as possible so we can provide tailored advice on the steps you will need to take and process any certificates you might need – info@arb.org.uk

EEA and Swiss qualified architects who are hoping to register in the UK but have not yet done so should also consider the guidance published on gov.uk.

Please pass this information on to anyone you think may be looking to register as an architect in the UK or EU in the near future. For general information and advice you can visit our dedicated Brexit webpages.
